“Working from the inside, I am creating the vessel as a place for my own body, a structure to inhabit, a space to contain me” (McCloskey 2011). -- Since its completion the Vessel has been given over to other inhabitants to use and modify as they see fit: in the Performance Studies lounge at NYU, at the Franconia Performance Salon, the homes of freinds, and PSi19. As a performative space the Vessel breaks conventions of personal space for its inhabitants while generating a sense of interior privacy. Vessel is part of my continuing artistic practice which includes carpentry, textile art, ceramics and painting in addition to performance design.
