Angrette McCloskey, PhD is a multi-disciplinary scenic designer working in theatre, opera, fashion shows and public spaces. She recently remodeled the 7,000 square foot Palace of Fine Arts Theatre Lobby into a multi-use event space, and designed the spatial experience for public visitors to Brian Tolle’s monumental sculpture, Eureka! in the rotunda of NYC’s Federal Hall. Recent Bay Area theatre credits include You Mean To Do Me Harm (SF Playhouse), Dry Land (Shotgun Players), Weightless (Z Space), and Rocky Horror Picture Show (Ray Of Light). McCloskey’s work as a scenic design associate has been seen on Broadway (Jesus Christ Superstar, Guys & Dolls), at the Metropolitan Opera (Faust), and in dozens of US and international productions. McCloskey has worked over 15 seasons of New York Fashion Week as a lead production manager and scenic design coordinator (Ralph Lauren, Theory, Rag & Bone), and now specializes in large-scale luxury events (most recently the Dolce & Gabbana take-over of the Metropolitan Opera). McCloskey received her PhD from Stanford’s Theatre & Performance Studies Department in March 2018, and is currently a performance studies lecturer in the Communications Department at San Jose State University.
